Strategic Objectives

MISSION :

"To deliver high quality responsive and forward thinking general practice education and training to provide our community with a skilled and sustainable general practice workforce."

Vision

The core focus of Sturt Fleurieu is the provision of training and educational services in the health sector and as a result it should seek to become the provider of choice for other health care organisations which may be established across the existing training footprint.

The organisation should continue to seek opportunities for vertical integration of medical education across the spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate training as well as opportunities for horizontal integration through allied health, where appropriate. Promoting and supporting procedural training as well as research opportunities for registrars are important drivers for the future.

Sturt Fleurieu has developed a range of unique education products. The organisation should continue to develop these with a focus on expanding current commercial activities as well as looking to other government funded activities.

The primary health environment will continue to operate in an environment of reform. Sturt Fleurieu must monitor the change process, adopt an active watching brief and adapt as appropriate. Maintaining a philosophy of a team based approach to the delivery of primary health care services should be central to participating in this reform.

Delivery of AGPT and PGPPP through contracts with GPET are central to the ongoing sustainability of the organisation. It is important to maintain a focus on these core activities by ensuring that the organisation is of the size and scope to maintain high quality, efficient service delivery.

Strategic Objectives

1. Ensure the sustainable future of the organisation by:

- Providing high quality vocational and prevocational doctor training, including rural and remote medicine

- Promoting the organisation

- Planning for an optimal size and scope of the organisation under the current contracting and delivery framework

- Providing a safe, supportive and effective working environment

2. Grow the organisation by pursuing vertical and horizontal medical training and education opportunities.

3. Capitalise on existing commercial capabilities and pursue growth opportunities consistent with the values and resources of the organisation.

4. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other relevant organisations to respond to the changing medical environment
