Prospective Registrars

General practice training takes place over three years, with an option for a fourth year for rural pathway registrars wishing to undertake advanced rural skills training.

The first year consists of hospital training.  The second year takes place in general practice and is divided into two six month semesters. During first semester registrars undertake gp-start and in second semester they complete gp-advanced. In the third year, the choice of training is expanded so that registrars can undertake extended skills and advanced rural skills posts in addition, to further GP terms.

Other options include Clinical Attachments and pro-start anaesthetics and pro-start emergency.

Potential applicants should be aware of the Sturt Fleurieu placement policy as part of their consideration for selecting Sturt Fleurieu as their preferred training provider. Details of practices can be viewed at GP training locations/ Practices.
