RACGP Accreditation
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners accredits general practice supervisors and practices as being suitable for the Australian General Practice Education Program.
Accreditation is important to ensure that:
- Training Program registrars are provided with an appropriate role-model, suitable experience, adequate supervision, appropriate teaching, proper facilities and satisfactory educational opportunities.
- Uniform standards are applied throughout Australia.
ACRRM Accreditation
Many of Sturt Fleurieu’s training practices are eligible to apply for accreditation by ACRRM to be able to deliver training towards the FACRRM for those registrars interested in achieving this important rural GP qualification. The practice must satisfy the standards for accreditation which are detailed on the ACRRM website.
Accreditation requires an application to ACRRM after which provisional accreditation is generally granted. Full accreditation can be achieved following a practice visit by an approved ACRRM liaison officer or designated assessor. The assessor will make recommendations to the ACRRM board and following ratification by the board, full accreditation will be granted.
The liaison officer / accreditor for Sturt Fleurieu is Dr Peter Clements.
