Indigenous Australians have higher rates of ill health and lower life expectancy than any other group in Australia. The infant mortality rate among Indigenous Australians is three times higher than the national average. Indigenous people are nearly twice as likely to be admitted to hospital than non-Indigenous people for many contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases.
Sturt Fleurieu is in the process of developing an online data pool in the form of multiple web pages on their website related to managing Indigenous Health in their communities, as part of Registrar training.
