Faints and Funny Turns Taught at Hospital Dinner

Once Registrars enter the Sturt Fleurieu program, we often think of them as beginning their training as a GPT1 Registrar; however a group of registrars completing their hospital terms are also a part of the program. On Monday night these registrars met at the 3rd of 4 hospital dinners held throughout the year, aimed at providing professional development and networking opportunities with their fellow future General Practitioners.

Indigenous Australians have higher rates of ill health and lower life expectancy than any other group in Australia. The infant mortality rate among Indigenous Australians is three times higher than the national average. Indigenous people are nearly twice as likely to be admitted to hospital than non-Indigenous people for many contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases.

Sturt Fleurieu is in the process of developing an online data pool in the form of multiple web pages on their website related to managing Indigenous Health in their communities, as part of Registrar training.

Office Closure - Staff Day

GPET's Academic Registrar Workshop

As Adelaide's cold and rainy July weather set in, four Sturt Fleurieu Registrars decided it was time to escape the winter and spend a week in sunny Queensland attending GPET's annual Registrar Research Workshop and Academic Registrar Workshop. Brisbane was a perfect place to learn about critical thinking and evidence based medicine.
